SEO for Gambling Sites with Proven Ranking Strategy

We took on a casino website onto our Rankers Starter Package and started our SEO for gambling sites ranking strategy.

The website started with us on the 16th July 2021 and the 5 keywords were either not found or ranking low on pages 8 and 9.

After 3 months on our starter package at just $300 per month the website has all 5 keywords ranking #1 in the SERPs. These are for very high search volumes too, I will reveal them and the SEO competition scores later.

The website in question is an affiliate site operating in Malaysia showcasing gambling and high profile casino sites for commission.

SEO for Gambling Sites

SEO for gambling sites is not that difficult, the key to success is consistency. Keep the links flowing on a daily basis and the #1 rankings will come.

In this case study I am just going to run through the off-page ranking strategy, this includes off-site promotion and the backlinks completed.

Keyword Data

In total the gambling keywords have a monthly search volume of 383,000. It is known that the top ranking website receives 33% of all traffic. This means that this gambling website receives an extra 126,390 visitors each and every month after using our monthly SEO package. As I have already said, it has taken 3 months to achieve the top rankings.

The client has paid us $900 over 3 months and now has five #1 rankings on Google.com.my. The return on this investment in SEO with us is huge.

The average SEO keyword competitiveness score is 32. As you can see, 3 out of the 5 keywords are regarded to have a hard SEO competitiveness score.

The gambling website that we worked on was fairly new, just a few months old when we took over. Top rankings can be achieved in 3 months even for new websites targeting high competition keywords.

3 Month Ranking Results

At the start of the process the gambling website had zero traffic and very poor rankings, see the screen shots below.

As you can see, at the start of the process the website had poor rankings, either not found for the keywords or sitting low on pages 8 and 9.

Three days ago we achieved #1 rankings for all the keywords. This has taken just over 3 months to achieve. The time scale for top rankings is around 3 months, as shown in our web 2.0 backlinks strategy too.

To track your Google keyword rankings for free you can use the handy online tool called serpsurf.

Proven Ranking Strategy

This is the ranking strategy that we used. Before you go ahead and start the backlinks you must make sure the on-page SEO is good.

Basic on-page SEO for gambling sites includes:

  • Keyword in the Title and Description Tag (METADATA)
  • Keyword in the H1 TAG (Main Heading)
  • Keyword in one H2-H6 TAG (Secondary Headings)
  • Keyword in one image ALT TAG (image alternative text)
  • Keyword at the top, middle, and bottom of the content

Those are the absolute basics that you must have covered before you start the off-site promotion.

If you are struggling, just take a look at what the top ranking sites are doing, take a look at their content and note where they are using the target keywords within their body content.

Month 1 – Day 1

Completed an on-page report and made the on-page changes. To perform a free on-page SEO analysis I recommend using the Website Auditor software by SEO Powersuite. Take your time with this, the software compares your on-page data with the top rankings sites, this is very important to take note of. Just a few on-page changes can make a big difference in the rankings.

After we completed the on-page work we submitted the URLs to 50 social boomarking sites. We used a mix of exact match anchor text and URL anchor text.

The anchor text ratio we use for all our projects is pretty much the same. We use a mix of brand, URL, generic, and exact match keyword anchors.

Day 2

At the start of any project we go slow and steady. On the second day we did more social bookmarks, 50 to each URL/Keyword.

Do not be tempted to rush it, by going in hard with PBNs right away you could very well compromise the whole ranking process. Go easy at the start with social bookmarks.

Day 3

We did tier 2 links to the links created on day 1 and 2. This was a heavy GSA run including blog comment backlinks and redirect links. We did 100,000 backlinks on tier 2.

Day 4

We did more tier 1 backlinks using social bookmarking sites. Each of the 5 URLs received 50 social bookmarking backlinks.

Day 5

Before we started work we did a ranking check. At this point all 5 keywords are found in the SERPs. This has been achieved with social bookmark links alone.

  1. keyword 1 – rank 84
  2. keyword 2 – rank 90
  3. keyword 3 – rank 88
  4. keyword 4 – rank 100
  5. keyword 5 – rank 69

Each URL received another social bookmark run, 50 bookmarks to each of the 5 URLs.

Day 6 and 7 indexing rest days.

Day 8

In week 2 we started with the web 2.0 backlinks. A really powerful platform is telegra.ph. For other options take a look at our web 2.0 blog list. These sites are free to post to and are very effective backlinks.

We did 5 telegra.ph links to each keyword/URL. We set them up in a web 2.0 link wheel formation, this helps Google bot find all the links.

Day 9

We did social bookmarks on tier 2, these links pointed to the web 2.0 sites created on day 8. 50 social bookmark links was done to each web 2.0 post. The social bookmarks ensure the links are found by Google bot. When Google bot crawls the links the site ranking improves.

Day 10

We did another 5 site web 2.0 link wheel using the telegra.ph website again. Each keyword/URL received a 5 site link wheel.

Day 11

We did a large GSA run on tier 2, generating 200,000 backlinks using the GSA software across the links created on day 10. We used exact match anchors only.

Day 12

Another run of 50 social bookmark links, 50 to each keyword/URL. We also did a tier 2 run using GSA spread across all the bookmarks. This was 150,000 GSA backlinks including blog comments, wikis, and redirects.

Day 13 and 14 indexing rest days.

Day 15

At the start of the 3rd week we did another ranking check. The keywords have started to move up the SERPs as the backlinks are being discovered by Google bot.

  1. keyword 1 – rank 80
  2. keyword 2 – rank 87
  3. keyword 3 – rank 72
  4. keyword 4 – rank 91
  5. keyword 5 – rank 61

As the links are being found the keywords will dance, they will move up and down the search rankings. This is completely normal, do not be alarmed. Keep the backlinks flowing and the site will hit the top.

We stepped up the backlink volume, each keyword/URL received 20 web 2.0 backlinks. These were not done in a link wheel formation. We used different web 2.0 platforms for all 20 links, this ensures the site receives links from many different IPs. We used our own existing web 2.0 blogs that are all already indexed. This means the links will be found quickly and the rankings will improve as fast as possible.

Day 16

As we have stepped up the link volume we did 100 social bookmarks, and a 5 site web 2.0 link wheel to each keyword/URL. On the same day we did a tier 2 GSA run, this was 200,000 links consisting of blog comments only.

Day 17

Now it is week 3 we are ready to go for some more powerful backlinks. It was time to start with the PBNs to really start pushing rankings. Each keyword/URL received 5 PBN backlinks from our own casino PBN network.

If you want to set up your own PBN network we recommend using Seek A Host for your PBN hosting. Buy domain names with your keyword in there, this will help push rankings quickly.

Day 18

We started the day with another ranking check. The PBNs have really pushed the keywords into much better positions:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 16
  2. keyword 2 – rank 65
  3. keyword 3 – rank 15
  4. keyword 4 – rank 16
  5. keyword 5 – rank 57

As you can see, two of the keywords are now page 2 on Google after just 3 weeks SEO for gambling sites.

We did another round of social bookmark links, 50 to each keyword/URL. This was followed up with tier 2 links, 150,000 blog comments using GSA.

Day 19

Each keyword/URL received a 10 site web 2.0 link wheel. We used different web 2.0 platforms for each link using our aged accounts that are indexed.

Day 20 and 21 indexing rest days.

Day 22

We started the new week with another keyword ranking check:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 12
  2. keyword 2 – rank 9
  3. keyword 3 – rank 14
  4. keyword 4 – rank 15
  5. keyword 5 – rank 18

As you can see, one of the gambling keywords is now on page 1 of Google. All the other 4 keywords are on the up, all of them are now on page 2 of Google.

This has been achieved in just over 3 weeks of SEO for gambling sites. With consistent backlink building a website will reach the number 1 spot.

On this day we did 30 web 2.0 backlinks to each keyword/URL. We used different web 2.0 platforms for each link created.

Remember to start off slow and build up the link volume as the weeks progress, this makes everything look natural and as the rankings rise the backlink volume can too. More eyes on the site will mean more backlinks.

Day 23

We did a 5 site web 2.0 link wheel to each keyword/URL. We used these web 2.0 platforms:

  • Wix.com
  • Weebly.com
  • Tumblr.com
  • WordPress.com
  • Strikingly.com

We already have accounts on the platforms and have them indexed. You can set up new accounts and have them indexed using Blogger, as mentioned earlier. These are free backlinks that you can go ahead and get yourself right now. Remember to use quality content, or the blog posts will not index.

Day 24

On this day we did 5 niche forum backlinks to each URL/keyword. We took some time to research niche related gambling forum sites, signed up for an account and got the backlink in the profile section. We also started off some forum threads with links back to the site, this increases traffic to the site too as well as getting a niche related backlink. This takes some time to complete, but is well worth the effort.

Day 25

We did 5 niche PBN backlinks to each URL/keyword. We used exact match only anchors on the PBN links. This was followed up with tier 2 links, each PBN post received 50 social bookmark links. These links will help the PBN posts to be crawled by Google bot. The links must be crawled by Google bot for the rankings to be affected.

Day 26

Today was Google properties day. Each keyword/URL received 6 backlinks from aged Google properties in our network. We used Google Sites blogs and Google Blogger Sites for the backlinks.

Day 27 and 28 indexing rest days.

Month 2 – Day 30

We started the week by increasing the link volume, each URL/keyword received 50 web 2.0 backlinks from niche related gambling web 2.0 sites. This means that we have the keyword in the domain extension of the web 2.0 site.

Day 31

Each keyword/URL received a 5 site Blogger link wheel. On tier 2 we did social bookmark backlinks, 50 bookmarks to each Blogger post.

Note that we are always doing tier 2 links in this ranking strategy, this ensures Google bot finds the tier 1 links. Without tier 2 the strategy would not work. Tier 2 is important, do not miss this step out.

Day 32

We did another round of web 2.0 backlinks, each keyword/URL received 50 web 20 backlinks from different platforms. This was followed up with a tier 2 GSA run, 150,000 backlinks from blog comments and forum links.

Day 33

Did exactly the same as we did on day 32. Another web 2.0 run on tier 1 with a big GSA run on tier 2. Building up the backlink volume as time passes is an absolute must. This ensures faster rankings, do not be tempted to do too many links at the start, build up to this link volume, nice and steady wins the race.

Day 34

Again we did 50 web 2.0 backlinks to each URL. At this stage do not be scared to use a lot of exact match anchors. We have started to used 60% exact match anchors at this point, we also mix in brand and URL anchors.

Day 35 and 36 indexing rest days.

Day 37

We started the week with a keyword ranking check:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 9
  2. keyword 2 – rank 6
  3. keyword 3 – rank 9
  4. keyword 4 – rank 10
  5. keyword 5 – rank 8

As you can see, now nearly half way through month 2 we have all 5 keywords on page 1 of Google. The clients traffic has significantly increased at this point and is seeing a very good return on their investment in SEO for gambling sites.

On this day we did 50 web 2.0 backlinks to each URL/keyword, we also did 300 web 2.0 backlinks on tier 2 spread across all the tier 1 links.

Day 38

Same again on day 38, 50 web 2.0 backlinks to each gambling keyword follow up with 300 web 2.0 backlinks on tier 2 split across all the tier 1 links.

Day 39

Each gambling/casino keyword/URL received 5 more niche forum backlinks. We did tier 2 links to the forum profile page where the backlinks sit. The tier 2 links came from 300 web 2.0 blogs.

Day 40

Another run of PBN backlinks. Each keyword/URL received 5 PBN backlinks from gambling blogs. We did 50 bookmark links on tier 2, these point to each post page on the PBN site.

Day 41

We did 100 web 2.0 backlinks to each PBN post created on day 40. This adds juice to the links and ensures Google bot crawls the links. We know that it doesn’t really matter if the links index or not, it matters that Google bot crawls the links and knows that they are there.

Day 42 and 43 indexing rest days.

Day 44

We started the week with another keyword ranking check up:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 6
  2. keyword 2 – rank 5
  3. keyword 3 – rank 8
  4. keyword 4 – rank 9
  5. keyword 5 – rank 7

As you can see, the keywords have improved rankings up a few places on last week.

Today each keyword/URL received 50 web 2.0 backlinks. Nothing was done on tier 2 on this day.

Day 45

We did tier 2 social bookmark links pointing to the web 2.0 backlinks done on day 44. Each web 2 post received 50 social bookmark backlinks.

Day 46

We did another run of PBNs. Each keyword/URL received 10 PBN backlinks from our gambling network. Do not be tempted to do too many PBNs, 5 and 10 here and there is good. If you have an aged gambling site then it is okay to do more. For a new site under 6 months old, stick to 5 and 10 PBN links every now and again.

Day 47

We did 50 web 2.0 backlinks to each PBN post created on day 46. This will ensure the links are found by Google bot.

Day 48

Another round of web 2.0 backlinks, 50 links done to each keyword/URL. We upped the number of exact match anchors to around 70%.

Day 49 and 50 indexing rest days.

Day 51

We started the week with a rank check, all the keywords have moved up a 1 or 2 places over the last week. Keyword 2 is now ranking in position 4. This has increased the gambling site traffic from the organic SERPs a lot. The client is now seeing a big return on their investment into SEO for gambling sites.

Each keyword/URL received 60 web 2.0 backlinks from different web 2 platforms. These came from sites in our network, they are already indexed. This ensures the links are discovered by Google bot quickly and ensures fast ranking improvements.

Day 52

We did another round on web 2.0 backlinks, 50 to each gambling post on the money site. We did a tier 2 GSA run consisting of 200,000 links from blog comments and redirects.

Day 53

Each keyword/URL received 20 PBN backlinks from our gambling network. All our casino PBNs are indexed. They differ in metrics, this is something we do not concern ourselves with. The most important thing for us is that the links are crawled and discovered by Google bot. This means the sites rankings are guaranteed to change.

Day 54

We did tier 2 links to the PBN links done on day 53. Each PBN post received 50 social bookmark backlinks.

Day 55

We upped the link volume once again and pushed 80 web 2.0 backlinks for each keyword/URL. We used 70% exact match anchors. Each web 2 post received 30 social bookmark links on tier 2.

Day 56 and 57 indexing rest days.

Month 3 – Day 58

At the start of the new week and the start of month 3 SEO for gambling sites we did a rankings check up:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 3
  2. keyword 2 – rank 2
  3. keyword 3 – rank 5
  4. keyword 4 – rank 6
  5. keyword 5 – rank 5

As you can see, all the keywords are now ranking in the top 5 of the organic search results pages at the start of month 3.

We kicked off this month with 100 web 2.0 backlinks to each URL/keyword. This was followed up with a tier 2 GSA run, 150,000 links coming from blog comments and redirects.

Day 59

We did a 5 sites link wheel using telegra.ph sites to each keyword/URL. We also did a 5 site link wheel using Blogger sites to each keyword/URL. The content is 100% unique and readable. We scrape content and rewrite and edit to ensure it makes sense.

Day 60

We did social bookmark links on tier 2 to each of the posts created on day 59. Each post got 50 social bookmark links.

Day 61

Each keyword/URL received a 5 site link wheel using the telegra.ph website once again. We did 50 social bookmark links on tier 2 pointing to each post page on tier 1.

Day 62

Each URL/keyword received 20 gambling PBN backlinks. Each PBN post received 100 web 2.0 backlinks on tier 2 using exact match anchors only.

Day 63 and 64 indexing rest days.

Day 65

We started this week off with social signals. As the website is now ranking high in the SERPs it’s good at this point to make sure it appears to be popular on the social media platforms. We dropped 10,000 social signals to each URL, these come from Facebook, Pinterest, and Tumblr.

Day 66

Each of the keywords/URLs received 30 PBN backlinks from casino sites in our network. We did 50 social bookmark links on tier 2 to each of the PBN post pages.

Each keyword/URL received 20 profile backlinks, these came from edu sites. You can buy edu backlinks like these from our SEO store.

Day 67

All the backlinks created on day 66 received 50 social bookmark links on this day. These tier 2 links are very important. These help get the tier 1 links found and crawled by Google bot.

Day 68

Each keyword/URL received 100 social bookmark links. We finally did more bookmarks on tier 1 just to mix things up after doing so many web 2s and PBNs.

Day 69

We did 300 web 2.0 backlinks pointing to the social bookmark links done on day 68. We used exact match anchors only, this can be done safely when used on tier 2 like this.

Day 70 and 71 indexing rest days.

Day 72

Each keyword/URL received 23 guest post backlinks from high authority sites like gumroad.com and bloglovin.com. You can see the full site list on our Rankers Guest Post Package available in our SEO store.

Day 73

Each of the guest posts done on day 72 received 50 social bookmark backlinks on tier 2. We used a mix of exact match anchors and URL anchors.

Day 74

Each of the keywords/URLs received a 5 site web 2.0 link wheel using the following platforms:

  • justpaste.it
  • gumroad.com
  • tumblr.com
  • weebly.com
  • wix.com

Each post received 50 social bookmark backlinks on tier 2 using exact match anchors only.

Day 75

Each of the keywords/URLs received 50 social bookmark backlinks. Taking the last part nice and steady as the keywords start to move into the Google #1 positions.

Day 76

Another steady link building day using social bookmarks only. Another 50 links spread across all the URLs/keywords.

Day 77 and 78 indexing rest days.

Day 79

Each of the keywords/URLs received a 5 site Blogger link wheel. Each of the Blogger posts received 50 social bookmark links on tier 2.

Day 80

Each of the URLs/keywords received a 5 site link wheel from Weebly web 2 blogs only. We used aged Weebly blogs from our network that have high PA and DA, and they are indexed.

We did 300 web 2.0 backlinks on tier 2, all the links were spread across the tier 1 Weebly post pages using exact match anchors only.

Day 81

We did 50 social bookmarking links to each tier 1 Weebly post done on day 80. Each of the bookmarks received 30 web 2.0 backlinks, these are tier 3 links. We very rarely do tier 3 links on our SEO for gambling sites strategy.

Day 82

Each of the keywords/URLs received 10 PBN backlinks from our casino blog network. Each PBN post received 50 social bookmark links on tier 2. On tier 1 we used exact match anchors only, this is to give the keywords that final push into the top spots.

Day 83

Each keyword/URL received a 5 site web 2.0 link wheel using the Google Sites platform. Each of the Google Sites post received 50 social bookmark links on tier 2.

Day 84 and 85 indexing rest days.

Month 4 – Day 86

Each keyword/URL received a 5 site link wheel using the wix.com web 2.0 platform. We used our aged Wix accounts that already have a lot of backlinks pointing to them and are indexed. Each Wix post received 100 tier 2 web 2.0 backlinks from mixed platforms.

Day 87

We did some more tier 2 links on this day, pointing 50 social bookmarks to all the links done on day 86. We also did a GSA run to the same links, this consisted of 150,000 links coming from blog comments and forum profiles.

Day 88

Each keyword/URL received a 5 site link wheel using the telegra.ph platform. Each post received 100 tier 2 backlinks from mixed aged web 2.0 platforms.

Day 89

We did a ranking check, this is how the rankings were after nearly 3 months SEO work:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 2
  2. keyword 2 – rank 2
  3. keyword 3 – rank 3
  4. keyword 4 – rank 4
  5. keyword 5 – rank 3

At this point we are very close to Google #1 rankings. We did 50 bookmark links to each keyword/URL. Nothing was done on tier 2 at this point.

Day 90

We did 5 PBN backlinks to each keyword/URL using exact match anchors only. The links came from niche related gambling sites from our own network. This was to ensure the links are indexed and come from different IPs.

Each of the posts received 100 web 2.0 backlinks on tier 2, again we used exact match anchors only.

Day 91 and 92 indexing rest days.

Day 93

Each of the keywords/URLs received a 5 site web 2.0 link wheel using WordPress blogs only. These blogs come from our own network, we used WordPress blogs that are indexed. Each WordPress post received 50 social bookmarks on tier 2.

Day 94

We did a keyword ranking check and noticed that all the keywords had now moved into the Google #1 spot:

  1. keyword 1 – rank 1
  2. keyword 2 – rank 1
  3. keyword 3 – rank 1
  4. keyword 4 – rank 1
  5. keyword 5 – rank 1

We did a 5 site web 2.0 link wheel using Blogger accounts only. Each Blogger post received 100 web 2.0 backlinks from mixed platforms on tier 2.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, there has been a lot of work done over those 3 months to achieve top rankings. At just $300 per month it is well worth it.

The client is still with us and we are maintaining #1 rankings while now working on another 5 keywords for the same site. The traffic is constantly going up as is the clients takings.
