Complete DIY SEO Guide planThis is an seo tutorial for beginners and experienced rankers;

I use this seo for my site, it’s simple to follow and it works.

Follow my step by step seo tutorial and you will be ranking no. 1 too.

Before we start the tutorial, you need to understand a few things first.

Let’s get that out of the way, then we can get on with the real exciting stuff.

Ranking no. 1 is exciting, it makes me loads of money and I love it.

You will too when you get the bug. It only takes one site to get you on the hook, then you keep going back for more.

The first thing that you need to know is the main Google ranking factors. This part is important, so do not skim over it.

Let’s crack on:

Important Google Ranking Factors

  1. Keyword in domain name or URL extension.
  2. Keyword in Title Tag.
  3. Keyword in Description Tag.
  4. Keyword in on page headings.
  5. Keyword in image alt tag and file name.
  6. Keyword density. (keyword needs to appear at top, middle and end of content)
  7. In depth quality unique content.
  8. Internal links.
  9. External backlinks.
  10. Social signals.
  11. Click through rate.
  12. Bounce rate.
  13. Time people spend on your site.

Of course there are over 200 ranking factors.

These are the most important to me when I do seo for my website.

Fulfilling the Google ranking factors is how to do seo optimization yourself.

How To Start SEO Of A Website

It’s important to know how to start seo of a website.

Get the first part right and you will be on your way to ranking success.

You will be so much more confident in ranking no. 1 if you take your time to select your main keyword for your content.

Always focus your amazing content around one specific keyword, this keeps things nice and simple.

If you pick a keyword where the top ranking sites are not optimized for the selected words, you will find it easier to rank.

It’s all about how well you spend your time, keyword research is super important.

We want to work smart, we want to find keywords that will yield us a good return on our time investment.

I have done an in depth tutorial on how to establish if your keyword is profitable and easy to rank number one for in Google search.

Let’s get started on how to do seo for website step by step.

How to perform seo for a website is up to you, this is how I do it, this is what works for me.

Step 1: Keyword Selection (Niche Selection)

I always start by writing down keyword ideas.

Then I pop these words into the Google Adwords Keyword planner to find out how often the term is searched for on a monthly basis using Google search.

First you will need to sign up for a Google Adwords account. This is free to do.

Select Google Adwords Keyword Planner

From the main dashboard select “Tools” then “Keyword Planner”.

Now perform a keyword search

Now click on “Search for new keyword using phrase, website or category”. Then enter your “keyword” in the “Your product or service” area. Then enter the countries you are targeting, for my tutorial I went for “United States”. Then hit the “Get ideas” button.

Next you need to click on the keyword ideas tab

Now click on the “keyword ideas” (circled). We can then see the monthly search volume for our selected keyword.

Now you have a long list of keyword ideas

Now you will receive a long list of keyword ideas together with their monthly search volume.

You need to completely ignore the “Competition” column, this has nothing to do with ranking competition.

This is the competition for advertising on paid Google search. It is relative to how many advertisers are bidding for that keyword, it has nothing to do with how hard or easy it is to rank in the organic search for that keyword.

So you now know how many times your selected keyword will be searched for each month.

Now we need to know how easy it is to rank for your selected keyword.

For this step we are going to use two tools, which are free of course.

The first one is called MozBar. It allows us to analyse our selected keyword a little further in order to establish how easy it is going to be to rank no. 1 for.

Add the MozBar extension to your browser window and head on over to Google.com.

Take a look at the top ranking sites SEO metrics using MozBar

Now Google search your selected keyword. You will notice some rather useful SEO metrics under each of the top ranking sites.

What you need to look for to get an easy to rank keyword:

  • PA needs to be low.
  • Very few backlinks.
  • No Keyword in Title.
  • No Keyword in Description.
  • No Keyword in URL.

Take a look at the top ranking site for my selected keyword “web 2.0 backlinks”. The page has a very low page authority and zero backlinks.

The keyword is not in the Title or Description, or even used in the URL. This is a site that is going to be very easy to outrank for this selected keyword.

You should also take a look at the quality of the content that sits on the top 10 sites. If the content is thin and the quality is low, you can be certain that you can beat it.

We will talk later about how to write supersonic content that will rank like a dream.

We are very certain that we can rank for this keyword, however there is one final step I like to take to make sure.

If at this point you do not think that your keyword is easy to rank for then you need to select another keyword from Adwords and start again.

Let’s analyse the top ranking sites using Rank Tracker. This free software is awesome, I use it all the time. I highly recommend getting Rank Tracker.

Not only will Rank Tracker evaluate keyword competition for you, it will also track your keyword ranking for you.

Go and get yourself a copy of Rank Tracker. Now open up Rank Tracker.

Open Rank Tracker software and enter site URL

Enter your site URL or even the top ranking sites URL. It does not have to be your URL, we are just checking the selected keyword competition here. Then hit the “Next” button.

You can add your Adwords account details for keyword research

Next you can connect your Adwords account or Analytics account details. I do not do this step, you do not need to do this for keyword competition analysis. Now click on the “next” button.

However, if you want to use Rank Tracker for keyword research, then you will want to connect your Adwords account. I just login to my Adwords account direct for keyword search volume research, it’s good to know that you can perform this task from the Rank Tracker software should you wish to do so.

The video below shows you how to build a keyword list with Rank Tracker:

Now type in your selected keyword to analyse competition

Now pop in your chosen keyword and hit the “next” button.

Now select your preferred search engine or engines

Now select your preferred search engine. I am using Google.com, you can add as many as you need to. Then hit the “next” button.

Wait for the software to analyse the top 10 rankings

Now wait for the software to look up the rankings for the keywords and site you selected.

Hit the finish button to see your ranking report

Hit the “finish” button to see the ranking report.

Take a look at the ranking report

Take a look at the ranking report. You will notice that RankersParadise.com is ranked no. 6 on Google.com for the keyword “web 2.0 backlinks”.

Now we can do what we came onto the software to do. Analyse our keyword competition.

To do this select “Keyword difficulty” (circled) and hit the “Update” button (circled).

Take a loo at how easy or difficult it is to rank for your selected keyword

Now we can analyse the top 10 ranking sites for our selected keyword. You also get a keyword difficulty score, the “web 2.0 backlinks” keyword has a difficulty score of 33.9.

This is an easy to rank keyword, you are looking for keywords with a difficulty score of zero up to about 45. Anything higher will take a lot more effort and time to rank.

It can be done with this system, it just takes a whole lot longer.

What we want to see:

  • Very few sites linking to the page.
  • Low on page optimization scores.
  • Few social signals.

As a final step in this section I will take a look at the backlinks that point to the top ranking sites.

If the no. 1 ranking site has a load of backlinks we can still out rank them by getting better quality backlinks.

To find out the quality of our competitors backlinks we are going to use SEO SpyGlass.

SEO SypGlass is another free piece of software that is very much so worth having. Go ahead and download SEO SpyGlass and we can take a look at our competitors backlinks.

Open SEO SpyGlass.

Enter URL to analyse top rankers backlinks

Enter the URL for the no. 1 ranking site for your selected keyword and hit the “next” button.

Take a look at the backlinks

We can see that there are 19 backlinks pointing to the top ranking site for my selected keyword.

Now we can take a look at the quality of these links using MozBar again.

To do this just click on the arrow at the end of the “backlink page” column. This will open that website in your browser window, make sure it goes to the browser that you have MozBar set up on.

Take a look at the stats of the site that gives the top ranking site a backlink

This site links back to the top ranking site for my selected keyword. Using MozBar I notice that the backlink comes from a site with a page authority of 17.

The page also has zero backlinks pointing to it, we can certainly get better backlinks than this. It’s also worth noting the type of backlink, is it from a comment, or is it contextual.

In this case it is from a comment, which has low authority. We can better this backlink by getting relevant contextual backlinks from pages with higher page authority.

Now go ahead and do this for all the other sites that link back to the top ranking site for your selected keyword, make a note of their PA and the no. of backlinks that they have.

This will give you an idea of how many backlinks you need to rank no. 1 and the quality that they need to be.

I will show you how to get these backlinks later, fast and easy to outrank your competition.

Now you should be ultra confident that you have a keyword (niche) that you can rank no. 1 for with minimal effort.

The video shows you how to analyse your competitors backlinks using SEO SpyGlass:

Step 2: Domain Name

If you already have a domain name then you can skip this step.

It’s important to find a good domain name. I never use exact keyword match domain names, however I will get the main part of my keyword in there somewhere and then brand it up.

You should know that domain age is a small ranking factor, the older the domain the better. You can find aged domains for sale with good metrics over at expireddomains.net.

You can also use this step to find aged domains to build a private blog network to use to build backlinks to your money site.

I do not do this any more, I use other peoples private blog networks for backlinks. I will show you where to get these backlinks from later.

You need to make sure that you get a spam free domain, I will show you how to do this now.

Go to expireddomains.net, it is free and very easy to use. Sign up for an account.

Enter your keyword into the search box

Enter your main keyword into the search box. Click on “show filter” text.

Set up your search filter with a minimum of 30 backlinks

Set up the “common” tab as shown. Make sure that you select “only available domains” and set the minimum no. of backlinks to 30.

Set the Moz metrics to minimum of 15

Click on the “Adwords & SEO” tab and enter 15 into the DA and PA Moz.com metrics.

Now hit the “Apply Filter” button.

Take a look at the aged expired domains list

Take a look at the expired aged domains that are available to register right away.

The “mybacklinksite.com” has 905 backlinks from 87 different domains. To check if these backlinks are spammy or not you need to run the domain through SEO SpyGlass like we did above.

We are looking for backlinks from related sites, mostly using the URL as anchor text.

Any backlinks from Chinese sites or overuse of keywords for anchor text leave alone and move onto the next available domain.

Take a look at the expired domains Moz metrics

You can pop the URL into your browser and take a look at the Moz metrics for each domain. You can also find out what the website used to look like by going to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

I would not buy this domain, I am just doing this to give you an idea of how to find an aged domain that you can use to rank no. 1 on Google search.

As a final precaution you can run the domain through Google search. If the site is listed you can be certain that it is not a spammy domain.

When you find a domain that you like, click the “register” text and grab that domain.

Step 3: Write Quality Content

Now we have a keyword that we are confident that we can rank for. Now it is time to make some awesome content that will rank no. 1.

To rank no. 1 your content has to be focused around this particular keyword.

We have already looked at the quality of the content that already exists, we are going to write a more in depth article with added quality to what we have already seen on the top ranking sites.

This is what needs to be done:

Make sure that your keyword is in your URL

Make sure that your keyword is in your URL. My selected keyword was “web 2.0 backlinks”, which you can see is clearly in my URL extension.

Make sure that your keyword appears in your Title Tag

Make sure that your selected keyword appears at the beginning of your Title Tag.

Make sure that you keyword appears in your description tag

Make sure that your keyword appears in your Description Tag.

Make sure you include your keyword in your on page heading tags

Make sure that your exact keyword is in your H1 heading (the main heading at the top of your page).

You can also pop parts of your keyword in other headings further down the page, in your H2 and H3.

For example, I would do a second heading as ” best web 2.0 sites for backlinks”. It has all the words in there for my selected keyword, just not in the correct order. This is so we do not over optimize the page.

Make sure that when you save the image that you are going to use at the top of the post you name it by your exact keyword e.g (web-2-0-backlinks.jpg). You will also want to use your keyword in the ALT tag for this image.

If you want to know how to add your ALT tag in WordPress click here.

The top ranking sites have in depth content around 2000 words long. Make sure your article is in depth and mention your keyword at the top, middle and end of your content.

Do not mention the keyword too many times in your content, your keyword density should be around or below 1%, do not worry too much about this, just write naturally and then check your density at the end to make sure that it is not too high. You can use the Yoast SEO WordPress Plugin for this job.

Your content must be unique and offer something different to what is already out there.

Step 4: Backlinks

The easiest backlinks to get are internal backlinks. After I publish a new piece of content this is the very first step I take.

I go through all the content on my site and drop a backlink within the text to my new page. Be sure to mix up your anchor text here, also pop in a few exact match keyword anchor text links too.

Now that you have your quality content optimized and published it is time to promote that content and get some backlinks to start ranking.

My backlink ranking strategy consists of:

  • Free backlinks
  • High page authority web 2.0 backlinks
  • Private blog network backlinks
  • Social signals

Do not build backlinks too fast, take things slowly or you will hit the Google Sandbox.

To a brand new site you can start by building free backlinks.

I have done a complete step by step tutorial on how to build free backlinks, check it out now and get some of these backlinks today. I recommend no more than 5 backlinks a day.

The free backlinks are done for anchor text diversity. You should not use your keyword as anchor text every time you build a backlink, you need to mix things up to make things look as natural as possible.

Backlink anchor text profile:

  • URL
  • Random words (click here, go here, visit this site etc)
  • Exact Keyword (web 2.0 backlinks)
  • Variations on your keyword (complete web 2.0 backlink strategy)
  • Brand (e.g Rankers Paradise)

I only do the free backlinks to any page once over. Then I move on to the next step, which is my weekly ritual.

Remember that you are in for the long haul, keep building the next lot of backlinks until you rank no. 1.

I do the next step over and over every week until no. 1 ranking is achieved. The worst thing that you can do is to quit thinking that the backlinks are not having any affect, trust me, they will.

It can take around 3 months of constant backlink building and page tweaking until you rank no. 1 for any selected keyword.

Do not give up until you reach the top spot!

Too many people give up after a month thinking that it is never going to happen.

This is why keyword research is the most important step. Choose a low competition keyword and you are certain to rank no. 1 in at least 3 months with the strategy shown here.

My weekly backlink schedule:

First Step: I will build 7 high page authority Tumblr backlinks to my site. I have an in depth tutorial on how to get high page authority web 2.0 backlinks, read it and follow step by step.

I never use exact match keyword anchor text for my Tumblr backlinks with this strategy, I save that for the more powerful private blog network backlinks.

I buy 7 expired high page authority Tumblr blogs for $1 here.

The anchor text I use for my 7 expired Tumblr blog backlinks are:

  • URL
  • Random words
  • Brand

Second Step: I add 5 private blog network backlinks, all of these backlinks use my exact match keyword for anchor text. I do not use my own private blog network, you can get 5 private blog network backlinks from seoclerk.com for $5.

I use these myself and know that they are awesome. Why waste your time building a private blog network when you can use another persons, at $1 a backlink these are awesome. The full blog post sits on the high page authority home page too, they certainly pass on some serious ranking juice.

The key to success with these private blog network backlinks is to write the content yourself. I will quickly write 5x 500 word articles with an image for good measure.

How to get your backlinks indexed:

There is no point in creating backlinks to your site if Google does not know they exist.

This is how I get Google to know about the backlinks that point to my site.

I do these steps in this order:

  1. Google search “submit site to Google” and simply submit your link URL to be indexed.
  2. Go to pingbomb.com and run the URL through the system.
  3. Go to Linkcentaur.com and add the URL to their system.

All of these are free to use. This pretty much guarantees to get your backlinks indexed in Google search.

To find out if your link has been indexed simply pop the URL into Google search.

If it has not been indexed wait a few days and repeat this process.

If that does not do the job throw a few social signals and social bookmark backlinks at the URL and it will definitely get indexed.

The last part, which you do not have to do weekly, but it certainly helps, is to get some social signals.

Google Plus and Facebook shares and likes are the most influential at improving search engine ranking.

For just $1 you can buy 1500 social signals from Google Plus, Facebook, Pinterest and Linkedin. I do this weekly until I rank no. 1. You can do this monthly if you wish.

Step 5: Traffic

The last part of the ranking puzzle is traffic.

Google registers how people interact on your site. They look at metrics like:

  • How long people spend on your site
  • How many pages are viewed by each visitor
  • If they bounce back onto Google search not satisfied with your content

This is also part of my weekly SEO routine.

I buy 1 weeks keyword targeted Google traffic for $1. This ensures that bounce rate for my site stays below 30%, visit duration stays high (around 2 minutes), and the amount of pages viewed stays above 2.

Complete Do It Yourself SEO Ranking Strategy

There you have it, my complete ranking strategy from start to finish.

We have taken care of all Google ranking factors.

Of course it’s not an entirely do it yourself seo guide, you do need to outsource a few things. But the total weekly cost to rank a site is minimal.

Total weekly costs: $8

$1 Expired Tumblr blogs

$5 Private blog network backlinks

$1 Social signals

$1 Traffic

So for just $8 you can rank a website no. 1 in Google search.

Of course when you hit the no. 1 spot you can move on to your next piece of content.

When you rank no. 1 you do not need to continue with the weekly backlink building strategy, you can slow things right down and build a few backlinks every month.

Sometimes I do not build another backlink when I hit the no. 1 spot unless my ranking slips.

You should always record all your backlinks in a spread sheet including this information:

  • Backlink URL
  • Anchor text used
  • Date created
  • Your current rank for selected keyword

You can track your ranking using the Rank Tracker software that I talked about earlier. I check and note down my ranking changes every two weeks.

I use this ranking system myself, I am a one man ranking machine. I do all seo myself, apart from outsourcing a few things that I have let you into here.

If you need a little blast up the SERPs you could also try The 301 Elevator Effect ranking boost tactic. I use this tactic when my sites get stuck in a position, or if I am short on time and need a set and forget ranking strategy for any of my sites. It uses 301 re-directs and is very quick and easy to set up and get your site moving up the SERPs.

The people that rank go ahead and experiment, seo is constantly changing, you will have to keep tweaking the strategy to make it fit. It works today, I will let you know if things change.

This is most definitely a black hat approach, use at your own risk.

I only started to use this system about a year ago, when I noticed sites out ranking me clearly using private blog networks.

If you wait for links to come you could well be waiting a very long time, especially affiliate sites.

I decided I was going to make things happen, and I certainly did.

If you are fed up with not ranking even though you have created awesome content, then get on this do it yourself seo guide and start to make things happen.

    • Which gig did you use Pedro? Could you post the link here. The gig that I recommend always works great for me, they have long 2 to 4 minute visit duration’s and move through 4 to 5 pages, bounce rate shoots down too below 40 and 30%.

  3. Hello Nick,

Great article, I love how you made such a daunting task so simple in link building.

I have been following your method with the Tumblr links, blog links and social media mentions. I saw a great rise in the ranks ( 5th on page #1 ) but recently experienced a 7 position down drop ( second page )

I then have been buying the website visits, do you think it’s because of bounce rate that the website had a huge drop? ( the bounce rate was around 67% )

Do you suggest any ideas for me to achieve the rankings I originally had?

    Thank you.

    • Hi Shannon,

When you start building backlinks to a site you will experience what is known as the Google dance, your page will move up and down the SERPs a lot. The key is to stick with it, set yourself a 3 month ranking strategy as shown on my web 2.0 backlinks page. If you build the backlinks at a steady rate over 90 days you will hot the top spot if you have the correct keyword to focus on and of course all your on page is optimised.

How long have you been building the backlinks for?

If you have just started I would stop buying the traffic for now and focus on a 3 month ranking plan using expired and new web 2 backlinks combined with some Doc share and image share backlinks.

If you need a more detailed analysis of what you need to do, just send me an email.

  4. I don’t quite understand why writing content is so important if the top of the line spinners can do such a good job now days? Would you recommend any spinners for the 1st tier?

    Reply
    • I don’t use spinners for tier 1. I treat all backlinks that I create as an asset, I like to write the content myself so that it has some value. This way the content is guaranteed to get indexed and stay indexed.

    • No, it’s only what I reveal here on Rankers Paradise. The system does work, I just wanted to offer a service for you guys so that you have time to write content for your money site and leave the seo work to someone else knowing that it is going to get done in the right way 🙂

  5. Thanks for the info! Do you have a maintenance guide that goes over the ongoing work you do for the tier1 links, social, and traffic? Also do you have a visual diagram for your DIY method described on this page?

    Reply
    • I don’t have a maintenance guide. I just keep track of rankings using Rank Tracker software, if my no. 1 ranking drops I will do another round of backlinks. You could fire 5 expired Tumblr blog backlinks to a page every month if you want to, just to keep rankings at the top. I find for low competition keywords ranking holds for a long time. You see, when you hit the top spot, you find that backlinks come naturally and you do not need to build them yourself anymore 🙂

I don’t have a visual diagram for my DIY SEO method. I should probably do one, don’t have enough time at the moment. I am training VA’s my ranking system, with the possibility of selling the service to you guys if you want it. Not sure yet, see how it develops, might just use the VA’s on my own sites.

  6. oh hi Nick,

for new sites with new domain,(not expired domain) we should manually create the web2 stuff right?

can i start to build the link on day 1 once i set up the site?if need to wait then how long is it?

No more than 5 links per day like what u teach?

And usually to start the hanky panky expired tumblr, pbn, socal signal blast after how long?(abt 2 months?)

By thwe way to play safe, whats your advice if i use pbn and social signals blasting to tier1 (the web2 sites) rather than to my money site directly? That means using pbn and socual signals as tier2.

seriously speaking, please do not scold me.i kinda worry the services because its way too cheap (cant help but doubt the quality especially the pbn and socal signals and expired tumblr $1??)Thats why i like to test it out as tier 2 links instead.

i think u got a kid here pestering you and please dont get annoyed LOL.

    Thank You

    • Hi Jeff, yes you can build backlinks from day one to a new site. I always start off with web 2 backlinks, 5 links a day will be fine as long as you mix up the anchor text.

To a new site I stay away from PBN backlinks. Just follow my web 2.0 backlinks ranking schedule, 10 expired web 2s in your first month together with social signals will work.

Second month you can build the new web 2.0 link wheel, which will be 16 backlinks to your money site. You can also throw in 5 Doc share backlinks too.

Month three get back on the expired Tumblr backlinks, add 15 more of those.

Keep track of your ranking, use Rank Tracker at the end of each month to check that you are in line with my schedule.

Remember to rank no. 1 it takes around 3 months, do not rush it.

If you are not no. 1 after 3 months you can then try some PBN backlinks to a new web site, this will give it that final boost up the SERPs that you will be after.

  7. Hi Nick. i revisit this post again.
Just to confirm, expired domains for a new site is it ok?i mean setting up a site but buying an expired domain for my new affiliate project.

Btw, for domain selection, if the site is say, a tech blog with relevant backlinks, is it ok to buy and rebrand as my new site?

What about the backlinks that are linked to the tech blog?(they are irrelevant to my niche.)

I ve read before it doesnt matter whether links are relevant to your niche as long as they are non spammy (no porn, foreign languages, spammy blog comment, etc)
And the link juice will still pass to my new rebranded site?

So if this is the case, then why i still need to build backlinks like your DIY guide for my new project?

Kinda confused here. so to speak, your DIY guide is for aged site?

My common sense tells me it seem so. its not for a new domain but aged domain with powerful metrics.

So is one dumb to register own domain with buying an expired one?

Is your rankersparadise an expired domain you bought and you use the tactics herein to rank?

Please pardon my ignorance. i just want to clarify coz i starting an affiliate niche soon. To buy or not to Buy?(expired domains)
    Lol.

    Thank you again.

    Reply
    • Expired domains are great if you can find one with a good backlink profile. Just be sure to do your homework before you go ahead and buy an expired domain, many will be on the Google blacklist and will not re-index in the SERPs because they have been spammed with many exact match anchor texts from poor domains.

When buying an expired domain check the backlink profile with SEO SpyGlass, make sure exact match anchors are low and URL anchors and random words are high.

I would always buy a niche relevant expired domain, but I know that you can re-brand them as long as the backlink profile is okay.

My DIY guide is not just for aged sites, you can use it on new sites too, just build the backlinks slowly.

You can use a new domain for your niche site, however you get a head start if you can find a decent expired domain with backlinks already.

Rankers Paradise is a new domain, I wanted a brand for this site. I was not interested in an expired domain for this site because I wanted to generate the backlink profile myself. Whether or not I go for an aged domain all depends on the project.

      This will be your tactic:

Take a look for an expired domain on expireddomains.net and get a niche relevant domain with a good backlinks profile.

If you can’t find anything good enough then go for a new domain. I always like to Brand my sites, Google loves a brand, I make sure part of my keyword is in there too. You can check out flamedomain.com to come up with a branded domain name for your new site.

Going with an aged domain will really rest on if you can find one with good backlinks for your budget.

  8. Hey Nick,

Quick question for you… do you know of any reason why a low competition keyword would get stuck on page 5-6? I’ve built 50+ links to it (expired web 2.0s, bookmarks, niche relevant comments), used the relevant long-phrase anchor technique, only 1 exact match… all that… and it’s been 1.5 months and it doesn’t seem to want to move at all.

The keyword has a 22 competition score in Keyword Revealer and the guy sitting at #3 for it has a pretty new site (DA only 14) and only 12 backlinks built. My content is also better for it.

I can’t seem to figure out why it won’t move.

    • Hi Brad,

      Are all those backlinks indexed?
The site sitting at no. 3 might have a secret PBN pointing to it where the crawlers have been blocked. Use the PBN Hunter to find out if they have more links that you do not know about.

There are many variable to consider here. I can’t be precise without your keyword and URL.

You can email them to me if you want to.

What are the quality of the 12 backlinks? Pop the URL into SEO SpyGlass, visit the 12 sites and note down their PA and the amount of backlinks pointing to them. This is what you have to beat.

If you are stuck on page 5 your backlinks can’t be indexed.

      • Just went through and checked all the backlinks… about 20 aren’t indexed. I’ve put them all through Link Centaur before and it says they were crawled. And some of these are 1 1/2 months old.

What can I do to get them indexed? That’s a long time for these to not get indexed. And all of them have a good amount of unique content so it shouldn’t be having any issues like that.

        • For some reason LinkCentaur isn’t working as well as it used to.

Just Google “submit URL to Google” and pop your URL in there and submit. They will get indexed within a few minutes, I do this every time now. I use many different Google accounts, which is a bit annoying to set up.

          • That sucks. Oh well, tools come and go sadly. I only have 3 Google accounts, but I’m submitting them a few at a time and that does seem to be working for getting them indexed. Hopefully that’ll help.

Gonna have to go back and check the other ones I’ve been working on as well. Not had much luck with this so far which is unfortunate. But maybe that’s due to the backlinks not getting noticed on my other pages as well.

I hope that’s all it is. That would be fantastic if that’s the only issue.

            • 3 Google accounts will do. When you get them indexed you will certainly see a rise in your ranking, it will take a few weeks before you see any results. I always keep track of which links have and have not been indexed. Some don’t get indexed at all, so I just replace them with another post, be it a Tumblr or PBN link.

Your ranking will improve when you get the links indexed. Let me know how you get on.

              Reply
          • Yeah, literally every link I do the URL submit on is getting indexed within a few minutes. I guess I’ll have to start keeping a “INDEXED/NOT-INDEXED” column on my backlink spreadsheets to keep an eye on that.

I’ll keep trucking along and report back in a couple weeks. Hopefully by then I’ll have made some decent progress.

          • Cheers for pointing out the indexing to me, Nick. Just after going through and submitting all the backlinks to the add to Google thing yesterday I’ve seen big movement today. Jumped from page 6 to page 2 to page 3. Clearly doing the Google dance, but that’s a much more positive outcome than I was having before.

Going to keep building these links and making sure they get indexed for the other keywords I’m chasing as well. Things are definitely looking up now.

            Reply
            • They will settle on page 2 I would think. As you build the backlinks make sure you submit them right away and keep a log of all the ones that have been indexed. I like to color the links green when indexed, leave them black when not indexed. This way you can easily see what needs to be indexed.

If they don’t get indexed right away, leave it a few days and then add to Google again. If that does not do it just do a backlink to it from Pinterest or Google Plus, which works every time.

Things will improve as you keep building the backlinks, now you know how important it is for the big G to know that your backlinks exist.

Keep going with the anchor text profile that I suggested and you will hit the no. 1 spot. It works for me, I know it will work for you if you keep going as I have explained earlier.

It’s a game of patience, if you are not no. 1 after 3 months then you need to hit it with some serious PBN links that are used solely for pushing ranks. I will let you know where you can get them from if they are needed. They are not cheap, so I only recommend them if you are stuck at spot 2 or 3. In most cases they are not necessary.

Let me know how it goes.

              Reply
          • Yeah, I’m building tier 2 links to them all regardless for better indexing / boosting the link juice from them. I use a PBN blogpost service on BHW for that. I’ve used this guys service for years as tier 2 and it works well every time.

But I will be building up my collection of expired web 2.0s as well. Definitely need a lot of them to rank all these pages I have on my sites.

Another little twist I usually throw in is writing up unique articles and posting them on niche-relevant community sites that allow users to have blogs. I’ve ranked sites with that technique alone in some cases.

Definitely going to spend some time building links to all of these URLs I have sitting on page 2-3 of Google. A good boost to those should definitely land me on page 1 and provide a good boost to my traffic in income.

I’ll keep going. Hopefully I keep seeing positive results. Just gonna keep cranking out posts till my fingers bleed.

            • Build those links steadily to those sites sat on page 2. When your fingers start to bleed go to the voice to text online dictation software…LOL. I know people use it to speed things up. In the next few months you will have some of those sites sitting at the top of page 1. Keep on writing… 🙂

          • Yeah, I find it easier to just type honestly.

And I may have jumped the gun when I said something about big movement. The one keyword seems to be sticking to page 4 now. Only a 1 page jump. May just need to give it a couple weeks for the real jump to kick in, though. It’s only been a day since the backlinks actually got indexed now.

Do you have Skype by chance? If you don’t mind giving it out, that’d be a lot easier for questions and such. Or even email. I know you’ve mentioned emailing you, but I can’t seem to find your email on your site anywhere.

        Cheers,

I’m not sure I have time to write a course, however my next post will be something special. When I get time to write it that is. 🙂

  10. Nick. ThaNk You. its enlightenment for me when you mentioned if too many niche stores go for a review site and vice versa. Makes a lot of sense. i never thought of that.
I always think if serps showing more review sites i should go with the flow.
By the way, my Kudos to you for advising me to manually create the web2 stuff first for a new site, not rushing to buy pbn or high pr tumblr and immediately link to my money site.
This advice is Golden for me.
Imagine if i am lazy and just bought web2 high pr and pbn and blast to my new site? With the bought social signals as well
    I will cry for sure.
Its really nice of you to warn the ignorant new site owners.
So many sites talk about buying high pr web2 and pbn but, A big But, didnt mention its supposed to be for an age site, at least 3 months old.
How dangerous it would be for newbies if they thought they can rank immediately for their new sites?
You definitely had got me enlightened. i m going to follow this guide step by step written by you.
    Thanks a lot Nick.

    • No problem Jeff. I am only too happy to help. Google wants diversity in it’s results, too much of one thing is not good. Always go with something different. Working slowly on new sites is the key to success, build backlinks too quickly and your ranking will not last long term.

Don’t throw money at SEO services if you don’t have to. You have the right idea, do not be lazy. Build high quality new web 2 backlinks and they will pay off for you. Ranking is a long term goal, so take your time and it will happen if you have selected the right keywords and made a plan on how to get the backlinks that you need to rank.

Good to hear you are going to follow my guide, it works for me.

      Good luck.

    • No problem Jeff, take a look at the search results pages. If there is a lot of review sites go for a niche store. If there are many stores go for a review site.

For my Amazon and ebay niche stores I use Prosociate. It makes your wordpress affiliate site look just like a real store, it’s awesome. You can even spin the descriptions on the product pages to get them indexed with ease. It’s not free, but well worth the price.

  12. Hi Nick. What do you think of a commercial keyword which shows all serps on pg1 are e coomerce drop shipping sites ? Say 8 are niche related and 1 amszon 1 walmart?
Shall i creatr a niche store( affiliate links) or like a blog style type with quality contents for the audience?
Because i read that Google does givr Ecommerce sites a priority for commercial keywords.
I kinda worry if i create a blog like site Google will categorize my site with review site which aint a lot of searches monthly
    .
    Please pardon my ignorance.
    Thank you.
I m addicted to your info by the way and i had subscribee to your email.

    • I would take a look at the backlinks pointing to those sites. Can you match the quantity and quality of those backlinks? It’s easy to match the content, you need to get as many quality backlinks as the top ranking sites.

I use niche stores and blog review sites, if the search engine results pages are congested with review sites, then I will create an Amazon affiliate store. If there are many stores but very little review sites, I would go with with a review site. Google wants a diverse range of sites in the top 10 results, if there isn’t any of one kind then most definitely go for that option.

Thank’s for stopping by. Glad I can be of help.

      • Hi. Nick. What do you mean with Amazon Affiliate store? I don’t know about it. Do you have any example of this kind of site?

        Reply
        • An Amazon affiliate review site is different to an Amazon affiliate store. An Amazon store looks like a regular ecommerce site, you would not know that it is an Amazon affiliate store, you can add products to cart, you only get referred to Amazon for the payment when you checkout. Go to the Prosociate WordPress Plugin site and take a look at their blog section to find some sites that use this plugin to create Amazon affiliate stores.

  14. Thanks for providing this great information. There are few doubts, if you would clear those i shall be very pleased;

1). You have mentioned 7 tumblr backlinks, some free backlinks and 5 PBN backlinks. There are nearly 20 links and out of 20, five links are exact match anchor. This will not make it over optimized anchor text ratio? I have heard exact match should be less than 1%. Please specify the ratio.

2). Do we need to send backlinks to the homepage also or just to specific posts?

3). I have a site over 200 posts. I am trying to rank my one of post who was at 8th page of Google. I hit with exact mach anchor and within one week it land at page 3. It then drop to page 4. I now started again building backlinks one month ago and send one exact match and 10 to 12 other mix of backlinks but could not get any improvement. Please guide what should i do.

    Thanks

    • Hi Jeff, great question.

1). There is no specific ratio, I have used a different ratio on every project that I have done, the main thing to keep in mind is to not to over do exact match anchor text and you will be okay. The best thing to do is to pop the top ranking site URL into SEO SpyGlass, from there you will see the anchor text used in their backlink profile, you can then take note of what percentage they use for exact match keyword anchor text to rank no. 1 for that keyword. Everything I advise here I have tried and tested and it works for me. I do all the free backlinks without exact match keyword anchor. I do these first and I only use my URL and other words like “click here” and “go here” as the anchor text. You can add as many of these free backlinks as you require, they are endless, use them to diversify your anchor text, you can have a 1% exact keyword anchor text match using this system if you want to.
2). When I research a site I have a bunch of keyword that I know I am going to rank for, then I have some filler keywords that I will not do SEO for, I just use them to build out the site. Then I will calculate which keyword my time is best spent on first, then I will build backlinks to that particular post until I have achieved a decent first page ranking. Then I will move onto the next post on my site and build backlinks to that post. Start off where you calculate the money to be, where your time will be best spent.
3). I can’t really be exact unless I see your site. You can email it to me with your keywords and I can help from there. It’s all about how competitive the keyword is. When you first start to build backlinks to a page your ranking will move around a lot, take a look at the kind of backlinks the top ranking sites have for your selected keyword using SEO SpyGlass and move on from there. You need to find a keyword to focus on that you know is going to be profitable and easy to rank, that will be the best way to use your time. If you want me to take a look for you just drop me an email using the contact page. I will be happy to help.

      Thanks for stopping by Jeff.
